Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
PAT testing involves examining electrical appliances and equipment to ensure that they are safe to use. Some issues are noticeable through a visual examination, but other defects are only discovered through testing with specialist equipment.
Electrosmith frequently carries out PAT testing for clients, both in workplaces and in rented accommodation. Our skilled team of certified electricians can advise on the best way to go about PAT testing, as well as efficiently carrying out the work.

PAT Testing at work
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 state that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.
It is up to the employer to decide the method and frequency of these tests. Electrical work should be carried out by people with the experience, skill and knowledge to correctly identify defects and avoid danger to themselves and others – making registered electricians an excellent choice for PAT testing.
At Electrosmith, we have years of experience carrying out PAT testing on a wide range of equipment and in many different settings.
